Entrepreneur, Sports and Event Manager, Member of the IOC, Member of the DOSB Executive Committee
Michael Mronz, a Diplom-Kaufmann and entrepreneur, is engaged mainly in sport and digitalisation. Since 1997 he has headed Aachener Reitturnier GmbH. He is a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Chairman of the Board of the Westerwelle Foundation.
With over 30 years of experience in sports and event management, he has shaped numerous major events. In 2005 he founded MMP Event GmbH, which organises and markets top-level sports events. In 2019 he sold the company to ProSiebenSat.1 AG, but continues to support it as an adviser. He also held leading roles at the 2006 World Equestrian Games, the German America’s Cup team in 2007, and the 2009 World Athletics Championships.
In 2022 he founded brackedlab, an artificial-intelligence company, and has supported it since 2023 as shareholder and adviser. He also initiated the construction congress “New Building – 80 Seconds”, which links decision-makers from politics and the construction and real-estate industries.
Michael Mronz has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since October 2023.
In September 2025 he became Chair of the IOC Commission for “Technology and Technical Innovation”, which identifies and prioritises digital innovation fields for the IOC and the Olympic Games and develops strategies for their safe and sustainable use of technology.
He is also a member of the IOC Commission “Digital Engagement and Marketing Communications” and of “Olympic Broadcasting Services S.L.”.
Within the “Fit For The Future” process he is a member of the working group “Commercial Partnerships and Marketing”, which reviews and develops the IOC’s existing programmes, platforms and systems and uses the capabilities of Olympic Broadcasting Services and Olympic Channel Services even more purposefully to secure future revenues.
Through his IOC role he has also been a member of the Presidium of the German Olympic Sports Confederation since October 2023.
In addition, he serves as Chairman of the Board of the Westerwelle Foundation, which promotes entrepreneurship in Africa and operates four startup houses there. Since 2020 he has also been a member of the advisory board of the football club 1. FC Köln. From 2010 to 2017 he was a board member of the initiative “Ein Herz für Kinder”, chairing it from 2014 to 2017. Since 2018 he has been a member of the board of trustees of the Franziska van Almsick Foundation and since 2022 part of the foundation council of the German AIDS Foundation.
