Jan Frodeno (born 18 August 1981 in Cologne) is a former German triathlete.
He grew up in South Africa and began his sporting career as a swimmer at the age of 15. Three years later, he took up lifesaving because of the versatility of the various disciplines, where he met South African Olympian Conrad Stoltz, who encouraged him. The images of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney on television motivated him to take up triathlon.
He was the first triathlete to win both the gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games and the Ironman Hawaii title (2015, 2016, 2019). Frodeno is listed on the all-time list of German triathletes at the Ironman distance.
