Dr Eckart von Hirschhausen is a doctor, science journalist and founder of the Healthy Earth – Healthy People foundation. He studied medicine and science journalism in Berlin, London and Heidelberg. Because the climate crisis is the greatest health threat of this century, he has been campaigning for medically and scientifically sound climate policy since the hot summer of 2018. Eckart von Hirschhausen was a co-founder of ‘Scientists for Future’.

With books such as ‘Die Leber wächst mit ihren Aufgaben’ (The Liver Grows with its Tasks), ‘Glück kommt selten allein...’ (Happiness Rarely Comes Alone...) and ‘Wunder wirken Wunder’ (Miracles Work Miracles), he has become one of the most successful non-fiction authors with over 5 million copies sold and probably the best-known doctor in Germany.

Since 2018, he has been chief reporter for the magazine ‘Hirschhausen STERN Gesund leben’ (Hirschhausen STERN Healthy Living).

Behind the scenes, Eckart von Hirschhausen is committed to promoting healthy laughter in hospitals, research and school projects with his first foundation, HUMOR HILFT HEILEN (Humour Helps Healing). He is currently developing an app for greater resilience in nursing care.

He is a sought-after speaker and source of inspiration for congresses and conferences and has several teaching assignments. He is an ambassador and advisory board member for ‘Deutsche Krebshilfe’ (German Cancer Aid), the ‘DFL Foundation’ (formerly the Bundesliga Foundation), ‘Stiftung Deutsche Depressionshilfe’ (German Depression Aid Foundation) and ‘Phineo’. With the school programme against tobacco addiction ‘Be smart Don't start’ and as ambassador for ‘fitforfuture’, a programme of the Cleven Foundation for daycare centres and schools, Eckart von Hirschhausen brings healthy ideas to the education sector.
