Richard David Precht, born in 1964, is a philosopher, publicist, author and one of the most prominent intellectuals in the German-speaking world.

He is an honorary professor of philosophy at Leuphana University in Lüneburg and an honorary professor of philosophy and aesthetics at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. His books, such as ‘Who Am I – And If So, How Many?’, ‘Love: A Messy Feeling’ and ‘The Art of Not Being an Egoist’ are international bestsellers and have been translated into more than 40 languages. Since 2012, he has been hosting the philosophy programme “Precht” on ZDF, for which he was awarded the German Television Prize in the ‘Special Achievement’ category in 2013.

In his publications and lectures, Richard David Precht has been addressing questions of ethics for many years. What do morality and responsibility mean in times of global crisis? What impact does it have when we evaluate our thoughts and actions solely from the perspective of ‘instrumental reason’ – or, as we say today, from the perspective of ‘efficiency’? How must we renew our idea of ‘education’ as the digital revolution radically changes our lives and work? Far removed from dusty and abstract debates, Richard David Precht's lectures open up new perspectives on the most important issues currently affecting our economy, politics and society.
