Born on 5 January 1952 in Ulm, Uli Hoeneß shaped FC Bayern like no other – as a player, manager, board member, president and chairman of the supervisory board. He turned the German record champions into a global brand.
As a licensed player for FC Bayern (1970 to 1979), Hoeneß won the Intercontinental Cup, three European Cups, three German championships and one DFB Cup. As a national player, he won the World Cup and European Championship with Germany and also took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.
In 1979, after 239 Bundesliga matches and 86 goals, Hoeneß took over as manager of FC Bayern at the age of just 27. From 2002 to 2009, he served as deputy chairman of FC Bayern AG. Even in his early years as manager, Hoeneß was considered a visionary and driving force in the Bundesliga, especially in the areas of television and merchandising. In 2009, he was elected president of FC Bayern München e.V. and took over as chairman of the supervisory board of the AG. He held these positions until 2014, when he took over the club's management again in 2016 and also returned as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. At the 2019 Annual General Meeting, he did not stand for re-election as President and resigned as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at his own request. Since his resignation, he has served as a member of the Supervisory Board.
As the driving force behind the scenes, Hoeneß celebrated a total of 57 titles with the professional footballers of FC Bayern until his appointment as honorary president, including two Champions League titles, the Intercontinental Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Cup, 24 German championships and 14 DFB Cup victories.
