Patrik Baboumian was born in 1979 in the Persian Gulf to Armenian parents. At the age of seven, he emigrated to Germany with his mother.

He studied psychology, sports and sociology in Marburg and Saarbrücken and is a licensed fitness trainer. Thanks to his decades of experience in competitive sports, he has a wealth of practical and theoretical knowledge in the areas of training, nutrition, motivation and, in particular, active weight training.

He has been a vegetarian for many years and a vegan since 2011. He gained international fame when he won the title of Germany's Strongest Man in 2011 and decided to become vegan, and has been the focus of widespread media interest ever since. Since then, he has celebrated numerous international successes and is considered the strongest living counterexample to the thesis that a vegan diet is not suitable for achieving peak athletic performance.

In addition to his educational work on veganism, Baboumian is politically active in many ways and raises his voice wherever he sees injustice. He does not shy away from confrontation and is known and notorious as a contrarian and combative advocate of human and animal rights.
