Prof. Dr Sönke Neitzel at Unternehmertag

Germany's most renowned expert on military history and security issues

Few historians analyze the logic of war and peace as clearly as Prof. Dr. Sönke Neitzel, Professor of Military History/Cultural History of Violence at the University of Potsdam.

His work shows how war, deterrence, and power politics shape nations—and why understanding the past is key to overcoming today's security challenges.
At the Unternehmertag, he will present his unvarnished view of Europe's strategic blind spots, the return of hard power, and the changes in mentality we need to remain resilient in turbulent times.
Expect openness, historical depth—and a wake-up call for Europe.

Prof. Dr Sönke Neitzel holds the Chair of War Studies at the University of Potsdam. Previously, he held the Chair of Modern History at the University of Glasgow and a Chair of International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). His research focuses on Imperialism and the world wars, and in the past ten years, primarily on German security policy and the Bundeswehr.
