Former Prime Minister of the State of Israel
Ehud Olmert served as Prime Minister of the State of Israel from 2006 to 2009.
Born in 1945 in Israel, a graduate of the Hebrew University in Psychology, Philosophy and Law.
Served in the Israeli Knesset from 1973 – 2009 and was elected twice the Mayor of Jerusalem 1993-1998.
Was elected Prime Minister in 2006 as the leader of Kadima.
He led Israel during the Second Lebanon War. His primary priority as Prime Minister was a peace agreement with the Palestinians. In November 2007 he attended the Annapolis Peace Conference led by President George W. Bush, and in 2008 he proposed the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas peace on the basis of the two states solution.
In September of 2007 P.M. Olmert ordered the Israeli ariel attack which destroyed the atomic reactor in Syria.
At the end of 2008, in response to ongoing attacks on Israel, Olmert ordered the launch of Operation Cast Lead in Gaza.
