Vice President of the European Investment Bank Group (EIBG)
Karl Nehammerserves as Vice President of the European Investment Bank Group (EIBG) since 1September 2025.
Vice-President Nehammer’s areas of oversight in the EIBGinclude primarily TechEU, Life Sciences, Digital Economy, Net Zero &Disruptive Technologies. He oversees financing operations in Austria, Estonia,Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, EFTA countries (Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway,Switzerland) as well asEastern Neighbourhood (Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia& Azerbaijan). He is also the EIB Governor of the European Bank forReconstruction and Development. Oversight of the Group’s Digital Ambition aswell as responsibility for relations with the Nordic Investment Bank are alsoin VP Nehammer’s portfolio in the Bank.
Prior to joiningthe EIBG, Mr Nehammer was the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austriabetween 2021-2025. Previously, he was the Federal Minister of the Interior ofthe Republic of Austria 2020-2021 and Member of the National Council (AustrianParliament) 2017-2020.
He holds a Master of Sciencein Political Communication.
