Ingo Hillen

Chairman of the Management Board of sino AG

Ingo Hillen completed his training as a banker in 1990 at Deutsche Bank. He bought his first shares back during the 1987 crash and has been a passionate stock market enthusiast ever since.

In 1998, together with Matthias Hocke, he founded sino Wertpapierhandelsgesellschaft. Profitable as early as 1999, sino was converted into a stock corporation (AG) in 2000.
The IPO followed in September 2004, in the regulated market of the Düsseldorf Stock Exchange. Since its founding, sino AG | High End Brokerage has regularly received top ratings in industry tests — for example from Börse Online or Euro am Sonntag.

In 2002, another company, tick-TS, was founded, in which Hillen, as co-founder and supervisory board member, successfully drove the IPO forward in May 2017.

Hillen took the most significant step of his career as the first investor in Trade Republic — even before the launch of what has since become Europe's largest neobroker. In its early phase, he played a decisive role in shaping the Berlin fintech as Managing Director and Board Member until 2020. Founder Christian Hecker summed it up when Hillen departed: "From the very first moment, he believed in our vision and, together with us, made a significant contribution to the successful development of Trade Republic."

Today, sino holds a stake of around 1.77 percent in Trade Republic, which was valued at €12.5 billion in December 2025, making it one of the most valuable fintechs in Europe.

Hillen continues his engagement in the fintech ecosystem as, among other things, an investor and advisory board member of getquin — one of the leading European platforms for portfolio tracking and investor communities.
But business is only half of life. As co-owner of the Munich restaurant Brothers, he also indulges his passion for great wines and excellent food. A bit of sport for balance — and he loves… Sylt.
