Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen

Comedian, author and presenter

Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen (who was born in 1967) studied medicine and business journalism in Berlin, London and Heidelberg. His speciality is: communicating medical content in a humorous fashion and combining healthy laughter with sustainable messages. For over 20 years he has been active as a comedian, author and host in the media and on all the major stages in Germany. He is one of Germany’s most successful authors with a print run of over 5 million copies of his books: “Arzt-Deutsch”, a look at German medical language; “Die Leber wächst mit ihren Aufgaben” about how the liver works; “Glück kommt selten allein…”, which focuses on happiness, “Wohin geht die Liebe, wenn sie durch den Magen durch ist”, which asks where the path to the heart leads after the stomach; and “Wunder wirken Wunder”, i.e. wonders work wonders. His latest book “Die Bessere Hälfte. Worauf wir uns mitten im Leben freuen können” (together with Tobias Esch) examines what we can look forward to as of the mid-point of our lives; it was released in September 2018. Since December 2017 he has been appearing on stages all over Germany with his new show “ENDLICH”. On ARD Eckart von Hirschhausen presents the informational television shows “Frag doch mal die Maus” and “Hirschhausens Quiz des Menschen” as well as the documentary series “Hirschhausens Check-up”.

Behind the scenes, Eckart von Hirschhausen works actively to promote more healthy laughter in hospitals as well as research and school projects with the aid of his charitable foundation “HUMOR HILFT HEILEN“, i.e. humour helps healing. He is a sought-after inspirational speaker at conventions and conferences and a lecturer on the subject of language in medicine. He serves as an ambassador and advisory board member for German Cancer Aid, “Deutsche-Bahn-Stiftung”, which is the charitable foundation of the German Railway, the German Foundation for Depression Relief, multi-generational homes and the non-profit organisation “Phineo”. Eckart von Hirschhausen has already been contributing healthy ideas to the educational sector for quite a while - as the sponsor of “Klasse 2000”, i.e. the class of 2000, “Be Smart Don´t Start”, a project aimed at fighting tobacco addiction, and the National Action Plan for Health Competence. For more than 5 years he has also been supporting the development of educational materials for schools on the subject of social learning, health and happiness.
