Major General (Res.) Doron Almog

Chairman of Aleh Negev-Nahalat Eran

Doron Almog completed the majority of his army service as a fighter and commander in elite IDF units, despite being the son of a bereaved family. His brother, Eran, fell in the Yom Kippur War while serving as commander of a tank unit defending the Golan Heights. The rehabilitative village that Doron Almog established in the Negev, together with his friends from the ALEH organization, is named after his son, Eran, who was one of its first residents. Despite the loss and bereavement in his family, Doron Almog is outstanding in both his military and civilian life for his leadership abilities, his exceptional personal example, and for creating a future of hope for a multitude of people in Israel, including those with special needs. As part of his position, Doron Almog works within and outside the village for the benefit of these people, and to empower society through inclusive activities integrating the weak and different. According to Almog, a society’s strength will always be measured by the strength of its weakest links. The more we do to strengthen them, the better and stronger our society will be.
