Christian Lindner

Party Leader of the Free Democratic Party

Christian Lindner has been a Member of the Landtag of North‐Rhine‐Westphalia (State Parliament) since May 2012 (constituency: Rheinisch‐Bergischer Kreis). He is the Chairman of the FDP group in the Landtag. Since December 2013 he is Party Leader of the FDP. Lindner studied political science, philosophy and public law at the Rheinische Friedrich‐Wilhelms‐University in Bonn. Between 1997 and 2004 he owned an advertising agency and was Co‐Founder of an IT‐business. Lindner joined the FDP in 1995. Between 2000 and 2009 he was a Member of the Landtag of North‐Rhine‐Westphalia and from 2005 to 2009 he was Vice‐Chairman of the FDP parliamentary‐group. Additionally, between 2004 and April 2010, Lindner served as FDP‐General Secretary in North‐Rhine‐Westphalia. In 2009 Lindner was elected as Member of the Deutscher Bundestag, and was appointed General Secretary of his federal party; he resigned from the latter position in December 2011. Lindner is a Captain in the German Air Forces reserve.
