Former Publisher of BILD

Kai Diekmann is a German journalist. After his Abitur and mandatory military service he studied history, German studies and politics at the University of Münster. He interrupted his studies in 1985 and started as a trainee at Axel Springer, the start of his career for the publisher. From 1987 he was a Parliament Correspondent for Bild and Bild am Sonntag in Bonn. From 1989 to 1991 he was Chief Reporter for the Burda Media-published illustrated Bunte. After a short engagement as Deputy Editor for the tabloid B.Z., he joined in 1992 Bild as the Politic Responsible in Hamburg. Five years later Diekmann changed to the Foreign Service of Axel Springer. From 1998 until 2000 he was Publisher of Welt am Sonntag and from 2001 to 2015 Chief Editor of Bild. Diekmann is still the Editorial Director of the Bild-Group. Since 2004 he is also a Member of the Executive Board of the Turkish daily Hürriyet. Diekmann is married and has four children.
