Martin Biesel

General Secretary of the Westerwelle-Foundation and former State Secretary at the Foreign Ministry

Martin Biesel began his political career as a ghost writer and assistant for International Relations to Otto Graf Lambsdorff. He held executive positions at the FDP headquarters, where he co-organized nationwide campaigns for federal elections and European elections. Martin Biesel was long-time political companion of Guido Westerwelle as his chief of staff. In 2009, Guido Westerwelle entrusted him with the coordination of the coalition negotiations for the FDP and was appointed Secretary of State at the Federal Foreign Office. After his departure from the political office, Martin Biesel was the plenipotentiary of the Executive Board at Air Berlin. In January 2017 he founded his own political consulting company. He is also Secretary General of the Westerwelle Foundation. He studied politics, history and German in Bonn and the USA.
