Carl-Ludwig Thiele

Member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank

Carl-Ludwig Thiele is a member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank. He is responsible for the Cash Department, the Payments and Settlement Systems Department as well as for Economic Education, Technical Central Bank Cooperation and the Bundesbank's University of Applied Sciences. From 1990 up until joining the Bundesbank in 2010, Mr Thiele, who had previously worked as a lawyer, was a member of the German Bundestag. Between 1990 and 1994 he was a member of the Bundestag's Budget Committee. From 1994 up until 2010 he was a member of the Bundestag's Finance Committee, where he was entrusted with the function of Chairman between 1994 and 1998 and then Deputy Chairman between 1998 and 2005. For 16 years, he was also a member of the Mediation Committee between the Bundestag and the Bundesrat. In addition, he was a member of the Administrative Council of the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) between 2006 and 2010. From 2002 up until 2010 he was Deputy Chairman of the FDP parliamentary group.
