Dr. Gregor Florian Gysi is an attorney and politician of the German left wing political party Die Linke. He has been the party leader of the left parliamentary group from 2005 to 2015 and as of the inauguration of Angela Merkel’s third cabinet, he is the leader of the opposition in the German Bundestag. Dr. Gysi has previously served as chairman of the PDS, as mayor and senator for economics, labour and women in Berlin as well as in several other political positions. He completed his study of law at the Humboldt University in Berlin and subsequently received his qualifications as an attorney. Dr. Gysi additionally holds a doctorate in law from the Humboldt University of Berlin.
