Laurence Mehl started his career at the Neue Westfälische Media Group as CEO for the OWL-Online GmbH & Co. KG in 1996. Four years later, Laurence joined the biggest regional newspaper in Europe, the WAZ Media Group in Essen, managing the online activities of the group.

In this position, he was among others acting CEO of the markt.gruppe (Immowelt AG, Stellenanzeigen GmbH & Co. KG,...) and member of the advisory board of the Online Marketing Service GmbH & Co. KG. In 2004, Laurence additionally became CEO of the WAZ MedienService GmbH & Co. KG which comprehends most of the WAZ Media Group’s publishing departments – excluding editorial teams. In 2006, Laurence became CEO of the Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt GmbH, known for the main brands Handelsblatt, Wirtschaftswoche and its marketer IQ mediamarketing. In 2010, Laurence Mehl became CEO of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung Group.
